Turbine issues fixed in Osceola County

The company submitted records to the county showing the agreements have been reached. Levy said the agreements have been executed and the company would e-mail copies of them to the county. In cases where NextEra could not reach agreements with landowners, the company curtailed operations of turbines close to the county residents’ homes so the machines are within the acceptable noise and shadow flicker limits.

Faulty blades hamper wind farm production (Part 2)

I asked Steve Peters if he knew exactly when the blades in the next section south broke. Peters recalled that, "the blade broke during the morning hours of Dec. 30. Nothing looked wrong at that site until before noon. Steve also said he had heard that 32 turbine sites (96 blades) had blades that needed to be repaired or replaced.

Fire damages wind turbine near Westboro

"On approach, we could see a lot of heavy smoke coming from the turbine," said Manchester. "As we got closer, we were able to see there was quite a bit of flame coming from the top portion of the turbine where the blades attach. We were advised by Iberdrola not to approach the turbine, just due to the safety factor, because there was a lot of debris that was burning and falling off.

School board discusses next steps for wind turbine

The wind turbine that helps to power the electricity for the Clay Central-Everly school district needs repair. Right now, the turbine is running at a reduced capacity ...The cost of the repairs is approximately $26,000, and the board is concerned that the output, once fixed, won't save the district enough electricity to offset the overall cost.
